(412) Kyoto 2: Kiyomizu-dera


It is considered one of the marvels of Kyoto: the Buddhist temple Kiyomizu-dera (清水寺) or “temple of the clear spring” (there is indeed a spring in its grounds) owes its reputation to the overhanging veranda offering a wonderful view of its forests with the city in the background.
