(731) Yotsuya 3: The shops

In these alley (which, thank god can be found all over Tokyo) you think time has stopped: there are shops selling the seasonal hodgepodge oden (おでん),

taverns with a not-so-discreet appearance,

other taverns with a more traditional style,

watering holes (the sake cask and the sugidama/杉玉 ball made of cedar leaves are signs that the shop offers a great choice of Japan’s national drink’s labels),

kimono tailors

and even more traditional style taverns.

(For a bigger version of this picture both in color and black and white, check my "Japan Arekore" set on Flickr).
