(790) Asakusabashi by night

"Choi" in Asakusabashi is an interesting mixture of izakaya and wine bar with a menu combining Japanese, Western and Asian elements.

The basic concept is that you eat and drink standing but you can also sit on the bar or in small tables.

Since we aren't very big on wine we played our standards: whisky highball for me and beer for Atsuko.

For food we started with European anchovies (although the Japanese "iwashi"/イワシ/鰯 is supposedly translated as European pilchard/sardine) with lemon and olives...

...we contunied with gorgonzola croquettes...

...penne, also with gorgonzola and black pepper...

...and finished with octopus in olive oil and Welsh onion. They were all delicious!
