...doesn't always need to be high-tech. Sometimes, like here, in the case of the Kaminarimon (雷門) gate of Sensoji (浅草寺) temple, symbol of Asakusa and Tokyo in general, the tiles on whose roof need change, it only takes a tarp and a life-size picture of the roof.
